Visp is short for visual performer. It is an opensource visual performance application built with Adobe® AIR™.
My main goals for building visp were to learn and experiment with the new Adobe AIR runtime and to create a performance environment that deviated from the traditional videoclip-triggering-focused VJ applications. I wanted something more. Something less about realtime video sequencing, something more about taking your time with generative, dynamic mini-systems.
Moreover, I wanted to be able to perform with this application, so along with visp comes a Java-based MIDI Proxy application, which lets you hook up a MIDI controller and perform with gestures.
